Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism
As a whole, Alternative Press (AP) is a million times better than any other music magazine, perhaps even Spin. As a teen who has always been into "underground" or "punk" music, I somewhat enjoy reading the articles or interviews from or by my old favorite singers or bands. Unfortunately, AP has recently been attacked by the killer "pop-punk" bands, i.e. Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Sum41...You get the idea. (...) I have to put up with the pages and pages of utter waste. If you're into the newer "punk" music, then this is probably for you. But for me, as a hardcore fan of the Sex Pistols, Sublime, etc., it kinda starts sucking after a while. The only reason it gets 3 stars instead of 2 or 1 is because of the pretty good coverage of Indie bands. AP introduced me to tons of great bands that I eventually would have heard of further down the line. I don't reccomend a subscription, but an occasional issue here or there won't hurt.
